The one-man startup is now the go-to parts source for thousands of car enthusiasts around the globe. Summit Racing operates a 25,000-square-foot retail super store in Tallmadge.

Summit Racing Equipment was started in 1968 as a part-time, one-person business operated out of a spare bedroom. In 1969 Summit Racing Equipment opened its first store in Akron, Ohio. Throughout the 1970s and '80s, Summit Racing Equipment continued to grow, and the company’s Summit Racing Catalog grew from an annual buyers guide to a bi-monthly publication. Today, Summit Racing Equipment operates four retail locations throughout the United States.
